Cats Sign Pair of Players

Ahead of this weekend’s action, the Creston Valley Thunder Cats are pleased to announce some big new additions.

The first big signing of the week comes on the back end by adding 2001 born defenseman Nick Dobson. The Cochrane native, who was born in England, comes to the Cats via the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of Manitoba Junior Hockey League, after spending the entirety of last season with the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Prior to making the jump to Junior A hockey, Dobson played for the Bow Valley Timberwolves U18 AA program for two seasons. After two strong seasons, in his final year, he was awarded the SCAHL U18 Best Defenseman Award. The Thunder Cats have been building one of the strongest bluelines the organization has ever seen, and the addition of Dobson, only adds to a plethora of talent that will be on display this season.

When describing his own game, Dobson says, “I’m looking forward to bringing a fast, exciting game to Creston. Being both physical and offensively creative on the ice and adding some leadership on and off the ice too.”

The second signing of the week comes in 2002 born forward Campbell Mclean. The 6’3 – 190lbs, Whitecourt AB product, brings AAA experience after spending last season with the Grande Prairie Strom U18 AAA. Campbell says, “I plan on using my speed and strength to bring a lot of energy to the team and lead by example while I am on the ice.”

Tune in this weekend, and catch #4 Nick Dobson, and #18 Campbell Mclean in action as the Creston Valley Thunder Cats take on the Kimberley Dynamiters!!
