The Creston Valley Thunder Cats announced a trio of signings, including top recruit Ben Norowski; Denon Bamber, and camp standout Nikolai Morrison.
BEN NAROWSKI – ’03 RHD
Narowski played last season with the Calgary NW Flames U18 AAA, where he was one of the most relied upon defencemen. Ben signed earlier this offseason with the Weyburn Red Wings of the SJHL, and a coaching change made the team go in a different direction.
GM/Head Coach Bill Rothesiler commented, “We are very fortunate to have a player of Ben’s caliber. He is a junior A hockey player, plays physical, but can move the puck offensively as well. He is also exceptionally coachable and a great person, so he is going to only continue to develop and get better every day”.
DENON BAMBER – ’03 LHF
Bamber joins the Thunder Cats after spending the last season with the Grande Prairie Storm U18 AAA hockey team. Denon had 3 points in 3 games last season with the Storm.
Rotheisler explained “Denon was somebody we showed a lot of interest in and tried to sign earlier this off-season. Eventually, after a bit of detour, we were happy that he ended up coming to Creston. He can play a great two-way game, and is structured in his game offensively as much as defensively”.
NIKOLAI MORRISON – ’03 LHF
Nikolai Morrison comes after a recommendation from an SJHL camp. Morrison then came to camp with other potential prospects and inevitably won a spot out of camp.
Assistant GM and Associate Coach Brandon Switzer commented, “Nikolai came into a situation where it was really an unknown for both player and staff, has proven his worth since coming to camp. Works hard, has a high hockey IQ, and plays the game with an edge”.
