Thunder Cats’ Hennessy signs with ACHA’s Aztecs

Creston Valley Thunder Cats forward Kolby Hennessy will play for the San Diego State University Aztecs in ACHA next season.

In 21 games with the Thunder Cats, Hennessy had nine points, and in 36 total games this season with the Fernie Ghostriders and Nelson Leafs, the 19-year-old had 11 points.

He’s excited about his next chapter with the SDSU hockey team.

“The KIJHL helped me develop into a complete hockey player and I appreciate the opportunity the league gave me,” said Hennessy.

Hennessy began his KIJHL career last season with the Ghostriders where he had 18 points in 40 games. In 76 career games, he finished with 29 points and had two points in 18 KIJHL Teck Cup championship games.

Thunder Cats Head Coach-GM Brad Tobin said they were fortunate to have Hennessy for the last half of the season.

“He was a reliable player that has the potential to continue his development at San Diego State,” said Tobin. “We look forward to seeing what he can do at the ACHA level next season.”
