Anmol Garcha (Princeton Posse), Max Chakrabarti (Creston Valley Thunder Cats) and Andrew Tworkowski (Spokane Braves) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Jan. 28/24.
Garcha – Top Forward – The Sherwood Park, Alta., product had five goals and three assists in two games to help the Posse defeat the Osoyoos Coyotes and Kelowna Chiefs. In their 7-2 win over Osoyoos, Garcha had two goals, two assists – including setting up the winning goal by Brennan Watterson to give the Posse a 3-0 lead. Against the Chiefs, Garcha netted a hat-trick, including the winning goal, and an assist in an 8-0 win over Kelowna. It’s the second time Garcha has been selected Top Forward. Garcha leads the Posse with 47 points in 34 games, which ranks him seventh among the KIJHL’s top point producers.
Chakrabarti – Top Defenceman – The Surrey product had two goals, two assists in two games in the Thunder Cats win over the Nelson Leafs and loss to the Grand Forks Border Bruins. In their 6-5 overtime win over Nelson, Chakrabarti had a goal and two assists, including setting up Nikolai Morrison’s OT winner. In their 7-3 loss to Grand Forks, Chakrabarti scored. It’s the second time this season Chakrabarti was named the Top Defenceman. He was also named Top Defenceman for December. Chakrabarti now has 13 goals and 30 assists in 34 games, and his 43 points leads all KIJHL defencemen.
Tworkowski – Top Goalie – The West Richland, Wash., product stopped 70 of 73 shots in wins over the Summerland Steam and Osoyoos Coyotes for the Braves. In a 3-1 win over the Steam, Tworkowski stopped 27 of 28 shots, including 12 in the second period. In an 8-2 win over the Coyotes, Tworkowski stopped 43 of 45 shots, including 17 of 18 in the second period. Tworkowski finished with a 1.50 goals against average and a .959 save percentage in the two games combined. It’s the second time Tworkowski has been named Top Goalie. Tworkowski has won 10 games with a 4.41 GAA and a .913 SP.
