Clayton Brown Added to Leadership Group for 2020-21 Season

The Thunder Cats are pleased to announce Clayton Brown as an alternate captain.  Clayton comes to the Cats from the Grande Prairie Storm Midget AAA hockey club.  A left handed, skilled, puck moving Defenseman, Clayton is Creston’s only rookie named to the leadership group.  A rare accomplishment.

General Manager and Head Coach Bill Rotheisler praised Brown on the accomplishment: “Clayton has been such a positive presence in the dressing room.  He tends to be the voice of reason allot during adverse times and moments.  It is a bonus that he has a very valuable skill set, but this is a guy who came here because he was smart enough to see an opportunity, instead of choosing Creston for social or other secondary reasons.  This speaks to the methodical thought process of Clayton, and it has a very calming effect, and motivating effect when needed”.
Clayton Brown, the 2002 born Albertan is honored at the appointment:  “It’s a big honor to be able to wear an A this season with the Thunder Cats, especially being a rookie and having the trust within the team to lead is huge.  We’re a team full of good leaders which helped make the transition a lot easier, and I look forward to being a leader for the boys. I’m excited to see what this season has to offer for me and the team”.
The Thunder Cats looks to continue to build through an uncertain time, and depend on leadership more than usual.  Associate Coach and Assistant General Manager Mark Readman had the following to add about Brown:  “With a younger team coming into camp, we wanted to leave the selection process open for someone to emerge and standout from the group.  Right from the start, ‘Browny’ stood above the rest, not being shy about engaging the group and setting the example.  With the challenges this season has, he keeps our group honest every day, making sure guys are getting better while enjoying it during the process”.
The Thunder Cats continue to practice and prepare for when the season resumes.
