Luke and Max Chakrabarti (Creston Valley Thunder Cats) and Karl Soneff (Nelson Leafs) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Feb. 18/24.
Chakrabarti – Top Forward – The Surrey native scored five goals and three assists in a home and home set the Thunder Cats split with the Spokane Braves. In their 14-3 win, Chakrabarti scored four goals and added three assists. He had a goal to give them a 2-0 lead, then an assist for a 3-1 lead. In Spokane, Chakrabarti scored the lone goal in their 2-1 loss. He finished the season with 30 goals and 45 assists for 75 points in 44 games to be the KIJHL’s Top Scorer for the second straight season. Chakrabarti has been named the Top Forward twice and was named the Top Forward for January.
Chakrabarti – Top Defenceman – The Surrey native scored three goals and added four assists in two games against the Braves. Chakrabarti collected his seven points in their 14-3 win at home. He has been named the Top Defenceman three times, as well as for December. Chakrabarti led all KIJHL defencemen in points with 55 in 40 games and was named the Top Defenceman for the Eddie Mountain Division.
Soneff – Top Goalie – The product of Copenhagen, Denmark helped the Leafs earn wins over the Castlegar Rebels (5-2) and the Beaver Valley Nitehawks (6-1), stopping 53 of 56 shots combined for a .946 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average. In nine games with the Leafs, Soneff went 6-2-0 with a 2.44 GAA and a .912 SP.
