The Creston Valley Thunder Cats crease picture just got a little clearer. Only a week removed from many question marks in net with returner Harmon Laser-Hume making a big impact in AJHL pre-season action, and back up Evan Gartner at camp in Cranbrook (BCHL), the Thunder Cats Hockey Operations shifted much of their attention in net, and it has paid off.
Moments after confirming that Harmon Laser-Hume was returning from the Calgary Canucks, despite a stellar pre-season, the Thunder Cats completed a trade acquiring veteran goaltender Carlos Siso from the Campbell River Storm.
“Carlos is an exceptional goaltender, as his resume attests to. With Harmon doing so well in the AJHL, we pursued acquiring Carlos to prepare for needing a new starting goaltender. Once we heard Harmon was coming back, we initially backed off of talks assuming Carlos would have no interest in sharing a net, but Campbell River was accommodating enough to allow us to run our vision by Carlos, and we were ecstatic that he accepted”.
In 5 regular-season games with Campbell River split between this year and last, Siso had a stellar 1.60 GAA and a .922 Save %. He has also played for the Nelson Leafs and Nanaimo Buccaneers and has a BCHL win under his belt as a member of the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Also, 2005 born goaltender Evan Leggett has signed with the Cats. Leggett is one of the most technical goaltenders for his age and is expected to play a big role with the future Thunder Cats and is excited to begin his junior hockey journey right away. Leggett played last season with the Thompson Blazers U16 AAA club.
In other news, 2001 born goaltender Evan Gartner remains with the Cranbrook Bucks.
